A teenage sleepwalker has been rescued after being found at the top of a 130ft crane.Police were called to Underhill roadS.S.E London after a passr by spotted the girl curled upon a concrete counterweight suspended above the ground...The girl who has not been named had apparently managed to climb up the crane and walk across a narrow metal beam while fast asleep. A fireman rescued the teenager amid fears she was attempting suicide but he found her asleep ..the rescue took 2.5 hours and the girl was taken to hospital for a check-up, but was found to be unharmed.. Irshaad Ebrhim of the London Sleep Centre said he had treated people who had driven cars, ridden horses, and even attempted to fly a helicopter!...Sleepwalking is not connected to dreaming because it occurs when the person is a non dreaming sleep state...

Oh goodness, hadn't het found her ... everything could have happened. I was sleep walking a few times, at least people said I would, but I never really found out.

Claire, I can not laugh about it. This can really happen, and it is not funny.

sure, if something terrible had happened to this girl then it would have been very tragic. but fact is, nothing happened to her so it's all alright.

Seriously, that girl's lucky nothing happened. Actually, it sounds interesting to me. I knew people could sleepwalk, but I didn't believe they could do something more complex like driving, climbing, and things like that. My dad had used to work the night shift at our county prison and didn't get much sleep during the day either. He said that there were times when he'd driven to certain places he usually went to, sometimes while he was asleep (because he would wonder how he'd get there, and a friend would sometimes have seen him), and I didn't believe him at first. I'm guessing that maybe in his case, it was partly routine to do that, that since he went to those places regularly, he could go without thinking about it and that could be why it happened several times without anything happening. But in the case of that girl, wow, that's weird how she just went and did that. *smiles*

Claire, nothing happened this time, I agree. But sleep walkers won't only do it one time. Think about what if she does it again and nobody finds her!!!

well if she does then that'll be unfortunate. but this time nothing happened to her. I mean I crossed a road this morning, that could so easily have turned out bad, I could have been run over by a truck! but I wasn't! but what if next time I cross the road I am!

I guess what I'm trying to say is, we can't spend our time thinking about what if, we have to live for the moment, and sometimes that means making light of things that didn't go horribly wrong.

Claire but you can hear the traffic. When you are asleep, even more things can happen.

no no Ines I used that as an example. what I meant was, nothing happened to her this time and that is lucky for her. we can't live our lives thinking "oh but what if something happens", we have to live our lives for the moment, and if something terrible could have happened but didn't, then we can make light of that.

Ignore the banality she just can't help herself....Hmm I think it must be your subconscious that provides you with the ability to climb 130ft, or drive ...Insele your absolutely right if she had woken up at that height she would have been terrified and possibly fallen to her death..its definately no laughing matter.

Thats freaky, I heard about this on the news the other night. Man I still can't believe she managed to climb that high. And yet on something so dangerious one slip and she could've died.

No problem Insele when sleepwalkers wake up they can either be passive or dangerous, if she had been woken by the rescuer, she probably would have fallen..

Yeah, this is a really dangerous situation. One false move and she could have fallen.
